Putting Public Health Evidence in Action Workshop TBD

WHAT Is It?
This one-day workshop, created by the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN) with funding from the National Institutes for Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), aims to build participant’s capacity to select, adapt and implement evidence-based solutions and policies for chronic disease or cancer prevention and control. Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss what “evidence” means
  • Locate resources and use methods for collecting community assessment data
  • Learn how to use needs assessment data to develop goals and objectives
  • Know where to find resources that are evidence-based
  • Assess the fit of the organization to potential strategies
  • Discuss the balance between fidelity and adaptation
  • Describe steps in the adaptation process
  • Discuss important factors or tasks in each phase of implementation (pre-implementation, implementation, maintenance)
  • Know how to use different evaluation methods for evidence-based programs, policies or other strategies Prospective applicants, community researchers and project leaders: We encourage Oregon-based individuals who work with community projects and/or research to participate in this training as we believe the skills you learn will significantly enhance the quality of community-based project design and grant proposals.

Cost: This training (valued at $350 per person) is FREE!
